Speakers, Music, and SC Students Highlight Fall Chapel Schedule

September 11, 2012

Winfield, Kan., Sept. 10, 2012 — Southwestern College campus minister Ashlee Alley has announced the fall schedule of featured speakers for the weekly Southwestern College chapel services.

Chapel takes place every Wednesday at 11 a.m., in Messenger Recital Hall in the Darbeth Fine Arts Center on the campus of Southwestern College. Audio from chapel is streamed online at www.moundbuilder.com. The speaker schedule and chapel archived services are at www.sckans.edu/chapel. Community members are invited to attend chapel services and there is no admission charge.

“We have several alumni (Rev. Amanda Baker, Rev. Wendy Mohler), a new faculty member (Jackson Lashier), area pastors (Ben Hanne and Rev. Rob Schmutz), some new friends from Zimbabwe (Pastor Lillian and Shadrach Musute) and a ballet troupe that shares a Christian message with their dancing (Ballet Emmanuel),” Alley says.

A typical chapel service is led by student worship leaders and often includes creative ways to help people engage with their faith and with one another. Under the direction of Alley and Martin Rude, director of worship outreach, students help plan the service and carry it out all aspects of the service, from the technical booth to providing creative arts.

Southwestern College is a private institution granting undergraduate and graduate degrees and is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. About 1,700 students attend classes at the main Winfield campus, at six professional studies sites in Kansas and Oklahoma, or online around the world.
