Financial Aid

Federal Financial Aid

Most learners who attend Southwestern College Professional Studies qualify for federal financial aid, which includes student loans and grants. This can be one way to help you pay for school tuition, books, and other associated costs. Learners must be in an undergraduate or graduate degree seeking program to qualify.

If you are interested in obtaining financial aid (loans or grants), please follow these 4 steps to begin the financial aid process:

  1. Apply for admission to Southwestern College Professional Studies
  2. Complete the online FAFSA (Free Application of Federal Student Aid) – the federal application can be completed online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.
  3. Complete the Southwestern College Student Data Form and return it to the address on the form – this and other financial aid forms can be found at http://www.sckans.edu/student-services/financial-aid/forms/.
  4. Ensure that all official transcripts have been sent to the Southwestern College Registrar’s Office.

Correspondence from the Financial Aid Office will usually come via email or phone, and should be responded to promptly. You will be contacted by a representative from the Financial Aid Office if additional information is required or if there are any issues during your application process.

Financial Aid at SCPS

The accelerated programs at Southwestern College Professional Studies are offered in “Sessions.” Financial aid is offered to you by “Semester.” Translating the two can be confusing. Below is a helpful chart to demonstrate how they work together.

Southwestern College's Academic Year Chart

Your financial aid award will be for an entire academic year and is based upon your total enrollment for all sessions within each semester. For best results, financial aid recipients should enroll in all the classes they plan to take the entire semester at the beginning of the first session.

When is Financial Aid disbursed?

For information regarding when your financial aid will be applied to your account, read the How to Apply section of the financial aid office website. Money is released to your account when you reach Step 7 of this process.

Once financial aid has been disbursed to your student account, the billing office will coordinate sending any refund money directly to you. Visit the Billing & Payment page for more information.
