Homecoming 2010 - Our 125th Anniversary

Did you know that Southwestern College is celebrating its 125th Anniversary this year? Well we are! We plan to kick-off the festivities at Homecoming on Saturday, October 2nd at our main campus in Winfield, KS. A full day of activities is planned including a special reception for Professional Studies learners and alumni! We would love to have you join us for rolls and coffee and then stay to enjoy the day on our campus. We’ll have a tour of our new stadium, a parade, rock-painting, a Homecoming picnic, free ice cream, and of course, a football game! For a list of the full day’s activities, please click this link. Making it Happen

Southwestern College Professional Studies has several military spouses working for us in different positions. Here is the story of one of them, Jennifer Atkinson, one of our Academic Success Coaches.

“As an Active Duty spouse, I can appreciate the “craziness” of our lifestyles, demands on our families, and the challenges you face regarding your education and degree completion. After seven years of marriage, two ‘365’ deployments, a handful of “extended” TDYs, and countless FTXs, I fully comprehend what this Army ‘adventure’ is like. Because we share this adventure, I can relate to your challenges as a student and as a service member. Not everyone understands the challenges of connectivity when you are in a remote or deployed region, the often impulsive battle rhythm, or the desire to make time go by faster when you are separated from your family. Let us be the college that “understands” you and simply “get’s it” when it comes to the peculiarities of earning your degree in today’s Army.”

November 1st is the deadline to apply for December graduation. All learners completing their last class before December 20, 2010 will need to complete the Application for Graduation found at http://www.sckans.edu/student-services/registrars-office/graduation/

All degree-seeking learners will receive an updated individual degree plan during the Fall PSC 02 session. Your Academic Success Coach will review your academic record and educational goals to create a class schedule that fits your specific needs. Your degree plan will be delivered via email and will serve as your personal road map to graduation.
