Is a Change Leadership Certificate for Me?
The Change Leadership Certificate engages individuals in a body of knowledge that focuses on how organizations move through change. Learners will examine how interpersonal behaviors and organizational structures impact change initiatives. The Change Leadership Certificate also allows the learner to develop their skills for adapting to change and potentially leading a change initiative in their organizations.
Classes taken in the Change Leadership Certificate program can be applied toward a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Development, Operations Management and Strategic Leadership.

Course Descriptions
HRD 345 Managing Human Resources
Learners in this course study the development of the personnel management role, the organization of work, staffing the organization, developing human resources, creating a favorable work environment, management labor relations, compensation, and benefit administration.
BSAD328 Organizational Behavior
This course covers individual and work group behavior in organizations. Exercises in the dynamics of power, developing leadership, facilitating quality and change, and interpersonal communication skills will be emphasized.
OMGT320 Managing Group Dynamics
Learners in this course will examine individual and group behavior within the context of the organizational design and culture. Learners gain theoretical and practical knowledge for understanding topics such as motivation, leadership, management decision-making, group process, and conflict resolution.
STL 420 Forecasting and Leading Change
The course is designed to enable learners to use market trends and societal changes to forecast changes. Topics that include demographic changes, market trends, national income, and societal shifts to effectively forecast future changes by using forecasting techniques will also be covered.
STL 435 Strategic Planning
This course is designed to help learners take a proactive approach to strategic planning. A variety of perspectives, models, and approaches will be used in the most common form of strategic planning.
Admission Requirements
Anyone interested in completing the Certificate in Change Leadership may complete a Southwestern College Professional Studies Application for Admission. The five courses comprising the Change Management Certificate can be completed in eight months or less and there are no prerequisites.
Individuals completing the Change Leadership Certificate at Southwestern College may apply these 15 multi-discipline credit hours earned toward any bachelor degree offered by Southwestern College Professional Studies as either a major requirement or an elective.
The Change Leadership Certificate is offered in an online format. Courses are delivered in 6-week sessions to allow maximum flexibility for busy professionals.
