Financial Aid
Most learners who attend Southwestern College qualify for federal financial aid! Prospective learners interested in obtaining state or federal forms for financial aid (including student loans and grants), should follow these 4 easy steps:
- Apply for admission to Southwestern College.
- Complete the online FAFSA (Free Application of Federal Student Aid).
The federal application can be completed online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.
You will need a personal identification number (PIN) before you can complete the online application. If you do not already have a PIN assigned to you or if you have forgotten your PIN, you will need to complete the first step 'Requesting a PIN'. Once you have received your PIN, you can fill out the application. You will need the PIN to electronically sign the FAFSA.
- Complete the Southwestern College Student Data Form and return it to the Financial Aid Office.

- Promptly respond to all e-mail or phone requests or award letters from the Financial Aid Office.
Many times, the FAFSA and the Data Form are all that Southwestern College needs to award you aid. Occasionally, however, additional forms or documentation may be required. You will be contacted by a representative from the Financial Aid Office if additional information is required.
Once your file is complete, Southwestern College will e-mail you an award letter. You will need to complete (indicating how much of the funds you would like to accept) and return the form back to our Financial Aid Office.
If accepting loans, you will need to complete an online Master Promissory Note with the lender. If required, you will be e-mailed instructions on how to complete this process.
